Anti aging: Tips & Treatments

Aging of skin is a natural process occurring at cellular level, involving change in structure and elasticity of skin over time.

Intrinsic  aging  which is  a  universal,  presumptively  inevitable change  attributable  to  the  passage  of  time  alone.

Extrinsic  aging  is  the  superposition  on  intrinsic  aging  of changes  attributable  to  chronic  environmental  insults, such as  ultraviolet  (UV)  and  infrared  (IR)  irradiation  as  well as  environmental  carcinogens  present  in  polluted  air  of major urban centers, along with alcohol, smoking and poor nutrition which  are  neither  universal  nor  inevitable.

As we grow older, skin changes which naturally occur include dryness (roughness), wrinkling, laxity (loss of elastin), age spots, discoloration, volume loss and  a variety  of  benign  neoplasms.

Skin becomes more transparent which is caused by thinning of the epidermis (surface layer of the skin).

Aged skin is in elastic  and recovers more slowly after injury.

Anti Aging Tips

Whereas Vitamin E is found easily in nuts like almonds, pumpkin seeds and hazelnuts. So focus on adding them to your diet.

A correct sleep pattern helps improve circulation, especially around the eyes and also helps in releasing stress thus slowing down the ageing process.

Anti aging creams are typically used at night because they can make you sensitive to the sun. Retinol is a form of vitamin A that can increase cell turnover and prevent collagen breakdown and boost its production. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps in making skin appear plump by reducing fine lines and appearance of wrinkles as it increases collagen in skin. Hyaluronic acid is a molecule made up of sugars that our bodies naturally produce. When you put hyaluronic acid back into your skin you are keeping your skin better moisturized, which helps keep skin tight, supple and diminishes the appearance of fine lines.  It's important to follow the directions carefully while applying night creams. Take a very small amount of night cream or a pea size quantity and mix it with a moisturizer and apply all your freshly washed face at bedtime. Night creams are a complete no if you are pregnant, lactating or contemplating conceiving and they should be started only after consulting a dermatologist.

  14. Collagen peptides: These are also renowned as hydrolyzed collagen and form an important building block of the body. It makes up approximately 30% of body’s proteins that provides elasticity to skin. Collagen production reduces in body with age and this marks the start of ageing process naturally in body. This starts affecting the connective tissue from age of 30 and increase in 40’s. Slowly due to ageing when skin become less active the collagen network also breakdown which is the one that provide firmness and structure breaks down. Due to this ageing process skin become dehydrated and thinner and gradually lines and wrinkles start appearing. Collagen peptide acts as messenger to the cells and lead to triggering the production and reorganization of new collagen thus reducing fine lines and wrinkles. It also minimizes the appearance of stretch marks and cellulite as it is responsible for providing elasticity for skin. There are powdered form of collagen that is odorless, tasteless and colorless with zero fat and cholesterol. Collagen shots are another form of collagen substitute; which are ready to consume as it is.

  15. TREATMENTS: Today a lot of treatment options are available Post a thorough facial assessment, dermatology clinic offer all kinds of anti-wrinkle treatment including Nonsurgical Face Lift, Skin Tightening, Anti Wrinkle Injections and Filler Treatments depending on the requirement of your particular problem.  We use a multi-pronged approach to impede your aging concerns which include therapies such as:
?a) SKIN TIGHTENING LASER: These lasers work to yield long lasting and better results as they not only work by stimulating skin cells but the aponeurotic sheath around the muscles (SMAS) also get stimulated. These lasers stimulate collagen growth by heating the dermis whilst cooling the skin surface to prevent any kind of damage during the procedure.
    b) Collagen Induction Therapy: This is a microneedling based treatment option, where hand-held devices bearing microneedles are used. These microneedles are used on skin surface or the affected areas in order to stimulate new collagen production, elastin production and neovascularisation.  Anti ageing skin boosters and growth serums are also incorporated in these procedures to provide more beneficial results. These sessions are generally placed 4 to 6 weeks apart.
    c) Plasma Induction Therapy or VAMPIRE FACE LIFT: The technique is based on harnessing the natural healing power of your own blood’s plasma. The platelets in our blood are rich in many growth factors. The plasma proteins and growth factors promote healing of damaged skin collagen by producing new collagen. It can be either applied on the skin surface or injected onto the skin surface thus leading to new collagen production and giving beneficial results in counteracting ageing.  d) HYALURONIC ACID INFUSION: Hyaluronic acid is a popular and effective skin hydrating ingredient.Hyaluronic acid infusion can be done in several different ways. This anti ageing treatment helps in improving the elasticity of the skin.
    e)  HIGH INTENSITY FOCUSSED ULTRASOUND (HIFU): HIFU uses the power of Ultrasound to safely lift and tighten skin. Unlike IPL that uses light energy or lasers or electrical that uses Radio frequency HIFU uses Ultrasound energy. It targets the structural layers of the skin and helps in skin tightening.
    f) CHEMICAL PEELS LIKE TCA: The exfoliating chemical is applied directly to the skin. It helps by peeling off the dead skin cells. High concentration of peel helps by emulating a skin wound inducing the body to produce more collagen. The new skin that appears after collagen production is tighter and also helps in reducing fine lines sun damage and uneven skin tone.
    g) LASER RESURFACING BY Er:YAG LASER : Laser  resurfacing with ablative lasers like Er;YAG laser is an anti aging technique which works like dermabrasion  and deep chemical peels. This works by removing the superficial skin layer and thus inducing collagen production as a result of this.
    h) THREAD LIFT : Also known as the lunch hour lift or mini thread lift is anon-surgical alternative to traditional surgical face lift where in threads are  used to lift sagging skin. Designed to be minimally invasive, it reduces aging around the cheeks, jaw line and neck by boosting collagen production, more quickly and with less risk than the conventional approach.
    i) NEOCLONE: neoclone is a new non-fractional system of skin resurfacing that is based on thermomechanical ablation technology. Using the heat energy, when the tip of laser touches the skin it causes microinjuries. These microinjuries encourage the body to produce collagen and elastin for a healthy and supple skin.
    j) IPL THERAPY/ PHOTOFACIAL: It’s a medical facial using the properties of IPL (Intense pulse light) laser which has scientifically proven collagen boosting and facial revival properties.
    k) Injectables:
    a. Dermal fillers – The injection of filler materials under the skin can fill in deep folds, such as nasolabial folds (also known as "smile lines" or "laugh lines"), create fuller lips and pad out hollow cheeks and eyesb.
    b. Muscle relaxers or Botox – temporarily relaxes muscles when injected. This prevents the skin above from creasing up and causing wrinkles,
    c. Fat melting - Deoxycholic acid is a chemical naturally found in the body that breaks down dietary fat in the digestive system. It can be injected into the body to reduce body fat in small areas

Always consult your dermatologist for the best advice.
