Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty surgery in Delhi is a type of cosmetic surgery that is performed to repair droopy eyelids. The surgical procedure may involve removal of excess skin and the muscles supporting it. Besides making you look older, droopy eyelids or upper lids or sagging eyebrows can reduce your side vision, especially the upper and outer parts of your field of vision. One can undergo blepharoplasty at the same time as another procedure such as a brow lift, face-lift or skin resurfacing. 

It is usually done in an outpatient facility. One of our board-certified visiting surgeons will inject a numbing medication into the eyelids and administer intravenous medication to help you calm down.  If the upper and lower eyelid is being treated, the surgeon will generally work on the upper one first. Cuts will be made along the fold of the eyelid and excess skin, muscle or possibly fat is removed and the closure is made. While treating the lower lid, the surgeon makes a cut just below the lashes in your eye’s natural crease or inside the lower lid. Excess fat, muscle, and sagging skin are removed and the cut is closed.  In case your upper eyelid droops close to your pupil, then our expert surgeons will perform blepharoplasty with a procedure called ptosis that provides additional support to the eyebrow muscle. 

The patients can leave for home the same day after the procedure only after spending some time in the recovery room where you are monitored for complications. It is common that you may temporarily experience blurred vision, watering of eyes, light sensitivity, double vision, numbing of eyelids, pain, swelling and bruising after the surgery.  It is advisable to take the after-care as prescribed by your surgeon carefully in order to recover in the best possible way. 

Many people come out of the surgery satisfied and happy. In some cases, the results may even last a lifetime. However, for some droopy eyelids show up all over again. Bruising and swelling subside in a period of 10 to 15 days while scars from surgical cuts may take months to fade. Protect your eyes further by limiting sun exposure for a while after the surgery.
